Experience with The Framework for Teaching
As Coordinator of Professional Development for the Washoe County Schools in Reno, Nevada, a district of 90 schools, K-12, and 3900 teachers, Lynn Sawyer led a Teacher Evaluation Task Force in developing and implementing a new teacher evaluation system based on The Framework for Teaching, focusing on teacher self-directedness and reflection. She designed staff development for administrators in using the new system, including a coaching model and inter-rater reliability training, and correlated teacher training and the mentoring program to increase expertise in the Domains of Teaching (Read her chapter, “Integrating Cognitive Coaching with A Framework for Teaching,” in Cognitive Coaching: Weaving Threads of Learning and Change into the Culture of an Organization, 2003, Christopher-Gordon, and her article, “Revamping a Teacher Evaluation System,” Educational Leadership, February 2001).

Professional Experience
Lynn has worked as an alternative high school teacher, a district level curriculum coordinator, a human resources administrator, a director of professional development, and an educational consultant. She currently works with school districts nationwide to create or revise their teacher evaluation systems, including ensuring compliance with state and district regulations, design of the organization and management of administrator and teacher training, preparing all documents, system components, forms, instruments, and support materials. She acts as liaison with the teachers’ association if needed, and helps the local team present to stakeholders and decision makers such as school boards, administrators and teachers. She has presented at the National Teacher Evaluation and Compensation Conference. Lynn is a member of the Danielson Group, a Training Associate for the Center for Cognitive Coaching, ASCD Faculty, Center for Adaptive Schools, and MiraVia.
